Mary Washington is putting on a week-long residential Summer Enrichment program this summer for rising 10th-12thstudents. Students will be able to take a number of enrichment classes, and there will be focused learning experiences for High School students who want to be teachers. It is a 950.00 experience andTHEY AREin a position to offer atno cost for students who want to be teachers.

Your interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) could make you a perfect fit for BLAST!
BLAST participants are immersed in the college campus experience for 3 exciting summer days packed with STEM
activities and demonstrations led by university faculty. BLAST will ignite your curiosity and give you insight about
what a career in STEM is like.
Qualifications needed:
• Currently in 8th or 9th grade
• C+ or better grade average

BLAST is FREE of charge for students who are selected to participate. Transportation to and from the university is the
responsibility of each family. The program is a partnership between the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, Old Dominion University, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Governor’s School Summer Residential Academies 2022 Qualified, current sophomores and juniors may apply. Academies will be offered in Humanities; Mathematics, Science, and Technology; Marine Science; Engineering; Agriculture; Medicine and Health Sciences; Visual and Performing Arts; and Foreign Language. Duke University Summer Session 2022 Current 10th and 11th graders may consider applying for a month-long Summer College session in which they take undergraduate level courses. Current 9th – 12th graders may consider applying for a 3 week long Summer Academy in which they take a certificate course. Current 9th – 12th graders may consider applying for a one week long Intensive STEM Academy. Christopher Newport University Summer Humanities Institute This is a two-week residential program for current 10th and 11th graders. Participants will explore the revolutionary ideas in history, science, religion, and politics that changed human history and America’s place in the world. Classroom learning will be supplemented by excursions to Virginia’s historical triangle, discussions, experimental learning, and film screenings. 2022 eXcel Leadership Academy – A summer youth leadership program designed to develop critical career and life skills while building an appreciation of our region and its many opportunities. Applications are available online at LeadHamptonRoads.net.

Beacon College’s Summer for Success –This 3 week immersion experience is for rising high school juniors and seniors who learn differently. Redesigning Our Future – A National Environmental Summit This 5 day/4 night Summit takes place at Catawba College campus, in Salisbury, NC. Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership This 2-week program will take place at the University of Virginia. Phillips Academy Andover Summer Session This 5-week academic program takes place on the campus of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Participants may choose from among 60 courses. BLAST 2022 Summer Program The Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology (BLAST) Program goal is to increase students’ curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The program is for current 8th and 9th graders with STEM interests who have a C+ or greater grade point average (2.3 or greater). Participants may attend BLAST only one time. 2022 High School Diplomats Program Current sophomores and Juniors may apply for this 10-day “cultural exchange program” that will take place in July 2021 on the campus of Princeton University. For more information and to apply go to www.highschooldiplomats.com.

University of Alabama Early College Current 10-12 graders who have a cumulative 3.0 or higher grade point average may apply for this program which enables high school students to earn college credits at UA or online. Those with a cumulative 3.5 or higher GPA will automatically receive the partial tuition scholarship for approved courses. 2022 Youth Conservation Corps Program (YCC) The YCC is recruiting for crew members for it’s Virginia State Parks service based program. Applicants must be ages 14-17. Crew members will work and learn in Virginia State Parks for 3 weekswhile supervised by adult crew leaders. During the day, crew members carryout park maintenance and development projects and at night, take part in team building activities, recreational activities, and environmental education activities. Cornell University Summer College Attendees will have the opportunity to earn three to six college credits from Cornell University and will be able to explore college college majors and careers. They will also learn how to write “a successful” college application. Students will be able to choose among a wide variety of courses. 2022 NASA STEM Enhancement in Earth and Space Science Internship This opportunity is for students in grades 10 and 11 and is designed to help participants improve their understanding of and interest in STEM careers. Hispanic College Institute The purpose of the program is to help inform participants concerning the college application process and to provide financial aid information.
